Why are we here anyway?

One of the challenges laid before me in my latest book on living simply is to write a family purpose statement.  Now, I know my husband, I and I can see him rolling his eyes right now.  He is thinking why does a family need a purpose statement?  Well, I kind of like the idea.  I like the idea of stating a purpose, and attempting to streamline life with that in mind.

However, I am struggling with the concept of what exactly to write into a family purpose statement.  I know that the chief purpose of man is to glorify God, so wouldn’t that be be the chief purpose of a family?   We as a family need to be seeking to glorify God together through our home, our ministry, and our lives?

I realize that there are many parts that encompass what we should be doing to help accomplish that task.  What do we need to be about?
