Jehovah Jireh – God our Provider

Sunday night,  we had a group of people for dinner.  We were joined by 7 extra adults and a couple extra kids, and dinner was….well… insane.  We have had a dining room table that has needed some work.  The table was a blessing to us six years ago, but it just needed some work nowadays.  The table only sat six at its biggest.  The legs were no longer able to be tightened and the table swayed routinely.  When we have company we have had to bring in an extra table just to find room to feed anyone other than our family.  The extra table and the continually moving dining table made dinner  a tad more difficult, but we made it work.

As we were sitting at dinner, we were discussing the fact although we had matching oak chairs sitting around, but we couldn’t use them.  We were explaining that we kept the chairs around the table to look like we had a dining set, but we couldn’t sit on them because they are falling apart.  My dad has tried to glue and clamp them, and they just won’t stay together.  When we are discussing all this, JP said, “God will provide us a table and chairs sometime.”

On Monday morning, my phone rang.  My mother was on the other side excitedly telling me about a table.  My boss at the tax office (and my mom’s boss) has a sister named Shirley.  Shirley had gone to an estate sale on Saturday and made a few purchases.  One of these purchases was a table and chairs for her son and daughter-in-law.  They didn’t want it, and Shirley was hoping to bless someone in the ministry with this table and chairs.  Connie mentioned me, and wha-la!

God was at work.

They didn’t know I needed a table and chairs!  God did.

I didn’t really think it was such a big deal that God would even worry about my swaying table, but God did.

God had provided that table before my husband was even voicing our frustration over the current table situation!

A few of the chairs were painted orange, and so I had to do a little painting of my own, but God gave us this fantastic – solid as a rock – table and 8 chairs!  EIGHT!
